KAUA'I, HAWAII ELOPEMENT

KAUA’I, HAWAII — WAIMEA CANYON ELOPEMENT

It goes without saying Hawaii is one of those places tat just feels like magic. I mean why wouldn’t it? You’re in paradise! It was my husband (Dustin) & I’s first time to Hawaii (celebrating our honeymoon), so going to Hawaii felt like the perfect place to go since we haven’t been before. Since Hawaii’s island is so different from the next we had the hardest time deciding which island to go to. But once I heard Kauai was a photographers dream.. we just knew that was the one where we needed to go.

We discovered some of the best places to elope, adventure, or get married are:

  • Waimea Canyon - Kalalau Lookout

  • North Shore - Tunnels Beach - Hanalei Bay

  • Wailua Falls

  • Shipwrecks

  • Limahuli Garden

  • Kilauea Lighthouse

While in Hawaii we also got to celebrate K & M, and witness their love story. Being locals on Kauai they knew all the best spots, so we headed to Waimea Canyon. Waimea Canyon is called “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific” and for good reason. I never expected there to be so much red clay and rock among the lush green. The only way I can describe it, is that it looks like Zion met Hawaii. There were waterfalls rolling off the cliffs and jagged cliffs along the Na Pali Coast that just concede out into the ocean. It was all so beyond beautiful. My favorite part was a waterfall we stopped off at towards the beginning of the park, it may be underrated but honestly it was the most fun for us all to play in as we watched K’s dress turn from white to pink dancing in the red waterfall.

What we loved most about Kayli & Matt was how adventurous they are and how exploring and hiking is a huge part of their relationship. Everything with them felt Natural and easy, and that’s how it should be.

I haven’t mentioned it yet, but the day we adventured with them into Waimea Canyon was actually my birthday. They brought me donuts with candles and all from a local donut shop on island, and by far was the sweetest thing anyone has done. We feel so thankful to of met both K & M and how much they welcomed us and made Kauai feel like home. For that we are so grateful and what building a connection with our clients is all about. We can’t wait to head back there, especially knowing we have two new friends that will be there.

Being the smallest island of Hawaii, Kauai still takes about three hours to drive around. The North shore (Near Hanalei) vs The South Shore (Waimea) was so different from the next. The north shore is more Lush and you feel a lot closer to the cliffs. The South shore is more dry and open but has some of the best snorkeling on the island (Poipu was the best each to snorkel). You can also only access Waimea Canyon, on the southwest side of island, and have to drive to the Southside to get there. But those are just a few things to consider if you're planning your elopement or wedding on Kauai. And if you are planning your elopement or wedding there, we hope you think of us to adventure with you! Even just being there once so far, we are ready to be your guides in planning the most epics spots for you.

Hope you enjoy scrolling through this day as much as we did!

MAHALO for taking the time to read about our day with Kayli & Matt.
