Our elopement story
BRITTNEY & DUSTIN
MOAB, UTAH - ARCHES NATIONAL PARK
This post is extra special to us because it’s our own personal elopement story. As wedding photographers we know first hand what it means to plan a day that feels personal, unique, and true to your love story.
Dustin and I (Brittney) celebrated our Wedding Day on our nine year anniversary as a couple. You could easily say it was a long time coming, but are true believers in timing is everything and everything happens when it’s meant to.
Like most couples who get engaged, we had no idea where to begin in trying to plan a wedding but knew date, and location / venue was the first step. We originally started looking at venues with the anticipation to have a normal sized / bigger wedding with all our family and friends. Being huge nature lovers, we had hoped to find somewhere that included both a stunning location and perfect setting for 100 guests. As most couples come to realize, that is easier said than done. And sometimes and the ones that do check all the boxes also come with a huge sticker price. Nothing we looked at seemed to feel right or “THE PLACE” so we held off our search for a bit, and well of course life happened. Long story short, we had some family with health conditions that we temporary moved out to Colorado for. At this time, we weren’t up for planning and were in no rush. After a year we had moved back to Washington and once we felt re-settled again we knew it felt like time to official start planning our dream day.
By this time, we knew we wanted to elope / plan a small wedding in a place that felt special to us, THE SOUTHWEST. We started to plan our elopement in Page, Arizona. We had planned on having our elopement at horseshoe bend, and planned on renting a campsite at lone rock for a very outdoor style wedding reception for our small group of friends and family.
As we anticipated the day and started to get excited as it came closer, covid-19 happened and put the world on pause.
It was one of those things that felt like out of a movie. Like the rest of world we didn’t know just how much the world would shut down and how long for. We stayed hopeful but came to realize that, it was the right decision to postpone till the world started to open up again.
Fast forward a year later, the day was finally happening again! Although things were opening back up again here in the United States, covid- 19 regulations.
